Canada’s New EV Incentives: What Fleet Operators Need to Know in 2026

A Message from Darryl Croft

To our Fleet Partners,

At OK Tire Etobicoke, we’ve always believed in staying ahead of the curve so you never have to play catch-up. Today, that means navigating the inevitable EV evolution. We fully support the federal government's recent moves toward making EVs more affordable and easier to charge for all Canadians. These changes aren't just about "going green"—they are about the practical future of fleet logistics. As your partner, we are committed to making sure you have the infrastructure and support needed to move forward confidently.

Breaking Down the New EV Affordability Program

The federal government recently launched a significant push to make electric vehicles more accessible for Canadian businesses. Key highlights include:

  • New Purchase Incentives: As of February 16, 2026, the new EV Affordability Program (EVAP) provides rebates of up to $5,000 for battery-electric vehicles and $2,500 for plug-in hybrids.
  • Infrastructure Support: To address the "charging gap," an additional $1.5 billion has been allocated via the Canada Infrastructure Bank to expand charging and hydrogen refueling networks nationwide.
  • Fleet-Specific Rebates: For medium and heavy-duty operations, incentives of up to $200,000 remain available through the iMHZEV program, making it easier than ever to offset the initial cost of going green.

Hands-On with the Latest Tech

We aren't just reading the headlines—we’re testing the hardware. Through our sister company, the Electric Vehicle Network (EV Net), we are uniquely positioned to assist you. Our team recently had the opportunity to demonstrate two standout vehicles that are changing the game for local and regional logistics:

  1. The RIZON Midsize Series: This Daimler-backed electric truck is a Class 4-5 workhorse. With a range of up to 250 km and no CDL requirement, it’s proving to be a perfect fit for urban delivery.
  2. The Peterbilt 548EV: A heavy-duty powerhouse designed for vocational work. We’ve seen firsthand how its ePowertrain handles the demands of a high-duty cycle while maintaining zero emissions.

We Have Everything Your Fleet Requires

Whether you are just starting to explore electric options or are ready to scale, OK Tire Etobicoke has everything a fleet requires to assist in your transition. From technical maintenance to navigating these new incentive programs, we are here to ensure your fleet remains efficient, compliant, and cost-effective.

Reach out to us today to discuss the options available for your specific fleet needs. Let’s make sure you’re positioned to take full advantage of these new incentives.

Best regards,

Darryl Croft
